CHIMNEY STACKS
Findley Roofing & Building conduct many chimney stack repairs as part of our general work load.

Chimney stacks often seem to be the cause of many leaks into domestic properties, through perished lead work and flashings.

We also see many loose chimney pots and poor flaunching around the top of chimney stacks which can cause falling debris.

Chimney stacks are now often viewed as a nuisance with the need for regular maintenance, and the danger they pose to the public if left in poor state of repair.

Wherever possible, dormant and disused stacks should be dropped and capped off, ensuring they are made safe and are unable to cause property damage or harm to the public.

We believe re-pointing should be carried out every 25-30 years to ensure existing stacks are safe and secure.

If your chimney stack looks like it is in need of repair please don't hesitate to Contact Us

CHIMNEY STACK CASE STUDIES

CASE STUDY 1

Mr & Mrs Salt, Low Fell, Gateshead.
Chimney Stack Re-Pointing

Here this chimney stack was leaking water into this property and causing plastering damage.

It was in such a poor condition that it was almost ready to collapse. After some careful grinding out, we fully re-pointed the entire stack and supplied and fitted new lead flashings. The result were as follows.

CASE STUDY 2

Mr Atkinson, Tynemouth, Tyne & Wear.
Chimney Stack Removal

Here Mr Atkinson was advised that his rear chimney stack was looking very vulnerable and dangerous.

Receding cement work and loose brickwork meant the stack was in fact leaning.

Every year we see old chimney stacks causing damage to properties.

In this instance the stack was in fact dormant, therefore we dropped the stack to a safe level, removing all old brickwork (Some 2 tonne) and capped off the remaining dead flue.

Sound as a pound, good job lads.
